Thanksgiving menu!

So I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year. My first go at it was college one year when Sean and I were snowed in. My Dad came up and I did the best I could, but this meal was far from homemade (as in mashed potatoes out of a box, chicken noodle soup out of a can, etc)

So this is my first go at it for cooking Thanksgiving. I have finalized the menu šŸ˜€

First up, Classic Deviled Eggs (from pinchmysalt.com blog)

I figured I own a deviled egg tray, so IĀ  might as well! Plus they are sooo mouth-popping good, aren’t they?

Next up, we’ll have a tray of meats, cheeses, and crackers. Thinking some yummy prosciutto, beer salami, and apple smoked cheese. Something like this:

I also found a recipe from Kristin from iowagirleats.com (great blog), a Puff Pastry Wrapped Brie & Pumpkin Butter.

I am going to do this w/ my own twist, going to include some homemade cranberry sauce and chopped walnuts šŸ˜€

Also thinking of using this tray we got for our wedding to do a hummus, cucumber, pita chips, and baby carrot tray. Healthin’ things up a bit šŸ˜€

I think I am most excited about using our wedding stuff. We do actually use most of it, but haven’t used all of it!

Of course we’ll have a lovely turkey, cooked by my Dad, in our never been used roasting pan (he’s all about it). About 15 pounds, cooked for 4 hours at 325, covered in salt, pepper, and vegetable oil. MMMM šŸ˜€

The stuffing is going to be Stove Top. Never made this before, but Sean’s Mom makes this and it’s always really good!

Gravy is going to be made with the turkey drippings, some flour, and some water. Not sure how yet, Sean’s Mom is going to show me šŸ˜€

I am also making the Pioneer Woman’s Homemade Cranberry sauce. This is made with maple syrup and I have no doubt it’s gonna be good! (I think I just jinxed myself!)

Garlic Mashed Potatoes recipe is Paula Deans (YAY, you know this is gonna be good!)

Sean’s Mom’s amazing homemade bread (she’s bringing it!) Can’t wait! It’s our favorite.

Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans. Sean says we must have these!

Demanding much? šŸ˜‰

Steamed green beans, thinking I am going to go with Trader Joes green/yellow variety. Just w/ a pat of butter and salt and pepper

Also going to make an Autumn Salad with mixed greens, dried cranberries, chopped walnuts, sliced apple, feta cheese, and a homemade Maple Walnut Vinaigrette. This almost mimics our wedding salad!

Dessert will be Grandma’s strudel (my Dad is picking this up, not sure if we’ll get cheese or apple!)

Pumpkin Pie of course- I am making 2- I use Libby’s, and just follow the recipe on the back

Super easy! Using Betty Crocker’s boxed crust mix

Fingers crossed on this one….

And my favorite dessert of all, No-Bake Cherry Cheesecake. Only thing is I don’t use 3 8 0z containers of cool whip, you really only need 1 in my opinion!

This is a winner…

Fingers crossed that I can pull this off. Buying the turkey tonight!

Have a good one!
